About me
Hey, I'm Raine. I'm a technology enthusiast who loves fixing tech and making cool things.
I have an AAS in Fish & Wildlife Technology, and I believe in a future where technology and humanity evolve together in a way that benefits all life.
One minute I'm running Windows XP on a CRT; the next I'm SSH-ing into my Linux server to manage self-hosted cloud storage. I love the simplicity and intentionality of older tech, and I also appreciate the power and flexibility of modern systems. Mostly I like keeping things alive.
What I like
Out of doors
- Going for hikes
- Nature, generally and specifically
- Getting far too into golf, even if it's only in video game form, for now
Indoors
- RPGs with immersive storylines
- Cosy games and anime
- Reading
My setup
A Reflex CRT, a beige keyboard you can hear from the next room, and a Dell tower that refuses to die. That little radio is actually a wax melter, it does the lighting. That's Wrath of the Lich King on the screen.
Nutter
This is Nutter. Rescue, dark grey, one white bib, enormous ears. He is personally responsible for the current state of my blinds and has never once apologised.
Work & school
Manufacturing Tech II
Safran Federal Systems, Rochester NY (August 2026 to now)
I build mechanical and electrical assemblies for Resilient PNT systems, the sort that go to government and defense customers. Soldering, rework, testing against procedure, reading schematics and assembly drawings, and working out why something isn't behaving. When a process could be better I write it up as an Engineering Change Request.
Assembly Technician
Safran Federal Systems, Rochester NY (October 2025 to August 2026)
Precision assembly on advanced PNT systems, to documentation and quality standards.
Lead Repair Technician

Repaired everything that came through the door, and trained the people who repaired the rest.

Phones, computers and assorted devices for a Fortune 500 company.
